andricus crystallinus on blue oak

One of my Flickr contacts posted this today - very interesting I thought.

"An oak gall caused by gall wasps....does not really hurt the tree and looks like a bloom!"

Thanks! There are a lot of differant galls on the oaks here. Oaks are like zoos....they have so much life living on them. Most do not affect the health of the tree at all.
